ZPHQ Jammu, IIT Jammu organize hackathon on cyber security & hygiene

Jammu, Nov 15: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu zone, Anand Jain felicitated the students at a high-profile Hackathon event organized by Zonal Police Headquarter, ZPHQ Jammu in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu.

The event, aimed at fostering innovation and exploring technological solutions for enhancing law enforcement operations, brought together police personnel and talented students.

The Hackathon on cyber security and cyber hygiene addressed a variety of challenges faced by the J&K Police in ensuring public safety, maintaining law and order and combating emerging threats like cybercrime and terrorism, a Police spokesperson said.

In his address to the participants, the ADGP highlighted the growing role of technology in modern policing; emphasizing how advancements in fields like AI and cyber security could significantly enhance the efficiency of law enforcement agencies.

He spoke about the unique challenges faced by Jammu and Kashmir, a region that required specialized solutions for public safety due to its geopolitical situation. ADGP reiterated the importance of collaborative efforts between academic institutions, and police department to address these challenges effectively.

“The integration of cutting-edge technology in policing is no longer a choice but a necessity,” said the ADGP.

“This Hackathon provides a remarkable opportunity for young minds to come together and develop solutions that can make a real difference in the security landscape of Jammu and Kashmir and beyond,” Jain said.

The ADGP also urged the participants to think creatively and boldly, stressing that their ideas and innovations could have a long-lasting impact on the future of law enforcement in the region. He acknowledged the efforts of IIT Jammu and J&K Police in creating this platform, which fostered both technological advancement and community safety.
