In a major push for Uttar Pradesh’s industrial and economic progress, Amrit Bottlers, a flagship company of SLMG Group and an authorised manufacturer for Coca-Cola, performed the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony for its new bottling plant in Sector 27, Gorakhpur Industrial Development Area (GIDA) on Thursday.

Set to drive economic growth and job creation in the region, the Rs 700-crore facility is expected to create additional direct and indirect employment for over 2,000 individuals. The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

“This plant will enhance Coca-Cola’s beverage supply chain, delivering quality products while uplifting local economies. By generating jobs and adopting sustainable practices, we aim to contribute to the state’s vision of economic prosperity and empower communities with meaningful opportunities,” said Rakesh Ladhani, Director, Amrit Bottlers.

The Lucknow-based company, an independent Coca-Cola bottler, operates seven bottling units in Uttar Pradesh — Chata, Barabanki, Lucknow, Ayodhya, Bareilly, Trishundi, and Unnao — producing over three crore bottles daily.

With a capacity of 2,900 bottles per minute, the new plant will add to the existing 21,082 bpm across SLMG’s seven operational plants in Uttar Pradesh, boosting the total daily Coca-Cola bottling capacity from 3.03 crore to 3.46 crore bottles.

During the Bhoomi Pujan, CM Yogi lauded Amrit Bottlers for its role in Uttar Pradesh’s industrial transformation. He noted that such initiatives align with the state’s efforts to attract major brands, turning Gorakhpur into an industrial hub.

He said that the plant’s emphasis on sustainability, including energy-efficient operations, supports Uttar Pradesh’s goal of balancing growth with environmental care. The state’s investor-friendly policies and enhanced connectivity have made GIDA a magnet for industries.

The new facility is in sync with SLMG Beverages’ ambitious plan to invest up to $1 billion by 2030 to expand production across Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. It currently supports over 79,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities across the entire value chain and has a direct workforce of over 5,000 employees.
