Srinagar, Dec 13: Ten Day workshop on “Biomaterials and Stem Cells in Regenerative Medicine” successfully concluded today at Veterinary Faculty campus of SKUAST-Kashmir at Shuhama Alusteng.
The workshop was organised by Division of Veterinary Clinical Complex, FVSc & AH, Shuhama and sponsored by Department of Health Research (DHR), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India. The workshop was held from 04th -13th Dec. 2024, wherein more than 20 Research Scientists/ Faculty members from various institutions of the country participated and upgraded their skills on use and application of Biomaterials & Stem Cells in Regenerative Medicine.
Prof Shayaib A Kamil, Dean FVSc & AH, SKUAST-Kashmir was the Chief Guest in the Valedictory session of workshop while Prof. Azmat Alam Khan OSD to Vice Chancellor was the Guest of Honour. Besides the participants, the Valedictory function held at Faculty Outreach Centre, FVSc & AH at Shuhama was attended by various Heads of Divisions and other Faculty members.
In his inaugural address, Prof. Shayaib A Kamil congratulated the organisers for successful conductance of workshop on an important theme. Prof. Kamil further emphasized on the need and importance organizing the events of similar kind in collaborative mode to better harness the available expertise in different fields of concern. Prof. Kamil hoped that participants will apply the knowledge and skills learnt during the programme in their respective fields for a meaningful contribution in a collaborative and innovative manner.
Prof. Azmat Alam Khan, in his brief address highlighted the potential of the theme of the workshop especially in context of its scope to shape the future of therapeutics and a step towards personalized medicine. He hoped the training program was a great success for its participants and that have gained insightful professional experience. Prof. Azmat hoped that the diverse nature of participants would serve as the ambassadors of SKUAST-Kashmir and improve its perception.
Earlier, Dr Shahid Hussain Dar, Associate Prof. Veterinary Clinical Complex formally welcomed the participants and other guests in the valedictory function while Dr Mudasir Bashir Gugjoo, Organizing Secretary of the event gave a brief summary report of workshop and the different sessions held during last ten days. Dr. Mudasir also highlighted the pressing issues faced by mankind in the field of Medicine and scope of modern therapeutics like Regenerative medicine for the same.
It is worth mentioning that the workshop had lectures from National and International experts of repute alongside exposure to Stem Cell Lab. and proper skill up-graduation of participants at Shuhama. The valedictory function ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Prof. Afzal Hoque Akand, Head Division of Vety. & AH Extension, FVSc & AH.
