Srinagar, Feb 19: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said on Wednesday that if need arises the J&K Tourism Policy will be revisited to attract more investment in coming times.
In his address at the SATTE 2025 Tourism Promotion event held at Yashobhooomi in New Delhi, the chief minister Omar Abdullah said, “Jammu is the city of temples and Kashmir has beautiful places that visitors can explore”..
“If you want beauty then there is no dearth of picturesque places in Kashmir. If you want to have a darshan then visit Mata Vaishno Devi and Amarnath Ji. J&K has everything,” he said.
“Perhaps the earliest known slogan for tourism promotion is – ‘Gar firdaus bar-rue zamin ast, hami asto, hamin asto, hamin ast’. These are immortal words by Amir Khusro spoken about Jammu and Kashmir… No honeymoon is India was considered a honeymoon unless it was spent on the houseboats Dal Lake. No movies in India would be complete unless it had one sequence in J&K… But we have this concept of ‘nazar’- evil eyes… J&K is emerging from 30-35 years of a very difficult time, from which J&K is emerging. Now J&K is once again one of the eminent destinations. But J&K is not resting on its laurels. J&K has something for everyone, be it any occasion. J&K is also a destination for investment in tourism industry,” he said.
About changes in tourism policy by many states, he said that at present things are going well, but if need arises, some changes will be made in the policy to attract more investment.
