TPCC media and communications chairperson Sama Rammohan Reddy alleged that Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar was protecting BRS leaders in the telephone tapping case.

At a press conference here, he said it was unfortunate Mr. Sanjay doesn’t understand that the Union Home Ministry is responsible for issuing red corner notices and extradition and State governments can only send requests to the Central government. He said the accused in the telephone tapping case, A1 T. Prabhakar Rao and A6 Sravan Rao, are in the USA and the Telangana government has sent multiple requests to the Centre to initiate action so that they can be brought to India and tried. So far, no red corner notice has been issued to the Interpol by the Centre.

“Ignoring this, Mr. Sanjay is asking the State government to hand over the phone tapping case to the CBI. Is this to shield BRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao and working president K.T. Rama Rao in the case,” he asked. “People are not so naive that they don’t see the sinister ideas of the BJP in taking over the phone tapping case.”

He reminded that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had personally raised the issue with the Central ministers during his visits to Delhi. Despite the State government’s efforts, the Union Home Ministry has not even revoked the passports of Prabhakar Rao and Sravan Rao. This indicates that the BJP benefitted in the Parliament elections with the BRS returning the favour by fielding weak candidates and similar situation exists in the MLC elections in Telangana where the BRS stayed out of the contest.
