Trump to meet Xi Jinping in South Korea

New Delhi, Oct 24: US President Donald Trump will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea on October 30 on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, the White House has confirmed.

The meeting, which has been under discussion for several weeks, comes amid heightened tensions between the world’s two largest economies. It will mark the first in-person interaction between the two leaders since Trump’s return to office.

The APEC Summit is scheduled to take place in Gyeongju, South Korea, from October 31 to November 1. During his visit, President Trump will also hold talks with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and attend a working dinner with regional leaders. His Asia tour includes a whistle stop in Malaysia for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit, where he is expected to meet the leaders of Malaysia, South Korea, and Japan, including Japan’s new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
