Tripura’s West Majlishpur Gram Panchayat Awarded for E-Governance Excellence, ET Government

AGARTALA: The West Majlishpur Gram Panchayat under Jirania RD Block in West Tripura has won a national award, securing second position in e-governance 2024 -2025 in Grassroot Level Initiatives for Deepening/Widening of Service Delivery with a focus on initiatives.

Tripura chief minister Manik Saha, holding the charge of panchayats, applauded the administration for striving towards PM’s digital India mission, and said, “A new feather has been added to the crown of the success of the panchayati raj system in Tripura! For its excellent work in expanding the scope of service delivery at the grassroots level.”

Officials said the West Majlishpur Gram Panchayat has won silver in a competition with panchayats among the states of the country, which recounted Tripura’s panchayati raj system in a golden era of development and empowerment.

The award will be presented at the national conference on e-governance to be held in Visakhapatnam on June 9-10.

As a token of honour, the gram panchayat will receive a medal, a certificate and a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh, officials said.

Tripura had already set a national benchmark last year by securing a total of seven national awards in different categories for excellence in panchayati raj, officials added.
