Rich tributes were paid in Kashmir to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and other officials, who tragically lost their lives in an air crash.
The tributes followed the Friday prayers and were marked by peaceful protests across various regions of Kashmir, including Srinagar, Budgam, and Sumbal.
In Srinagar, the peaceful demonstrations were observed in several areas such as Soura, Zadibal, Hasanabad, HMT, Shalimar, Khanyar, Boulevard, and the interiors of Dal Lake.
The residents gathered in large numbers, expressing their grief and solidarity with the people of Iran.
Budgam also witnessed significant gatherings at Magam and the central Budgam area. Meanwhile, Sumbal in Bandipora saw locals joining in the peaceful protests, holding placards and offering prayers for the departed souls.
A local from Soura, Ali Mohammad, said, “We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of President Ebrahim Raisi and other Iranian officials. They were leaders who stood for justice and peace. Our hearts go out to their families and the people of Iran.”
In Budgam, a resident, Fatima Begum, shared her sentiments and said “the loss is not just for Iran but for the entire Muslim Ummah. We are here to pay our respects and to pray for their souls. May Allah grant them Jannah.”
