Rajouri, Jul 15: Faisal Javid Kasana, a young scholar from Khanetar Poonch in the Pir Panjal region, has made the region proud by being offered a PhD in English Literature by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu.
Kasana will pursue the programme as a full-time institute scholar, starting from the 2025-26 academic session, reads the offer letter from the Director, IIT Jammu.
Hailing from a humble background, Kasana is the son of late Javid Iqbal Kasana, a former Zonal Education Officer in the J&K Education Department.
His academic journey is a testament to his hard work and dedication.
He is an alumnus of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Surankote and Maulana Azad Memorial (MAM) College Cluster University, Jammu, where he completed his Integrated Master’s in English Literature with distinction.
Kasana’s academic credentials are impressive, with several research papers to his name. He is also a budding English poet, having received encouraging reviews from experts in the field.
Notably, he has worked with IIT Jammu as a researcher on a collaborative project with the J&K Tribal Affairs Department and the Indian Institute of Technology, Jammu, focusing on the translation of tribal literature into English.
This achievement is a shining example of Kasana’s academic prowess and potential.
