Aanand L Rai’s romantic drama Tere Ishk Mein, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, has seen a massive drop on its first Monday at the domestic box office. After amassing in double digits every day over its opening weekend, and that too above Rs 15 crore each day, the film has slipped down to single digits on Monday, witnessing more than a 50% drop.
On Monday (day 4), at the domestic box office, Tere Ishk Mein earned Rs 8.25 crore, quite a decline from its Sunday (day 3) earnings of Rs 19 crore. Sunday was the film’s highest single-day collection, a decent improvement on its Saturday (day 2) figure of Rs 17 crore, a minor increase from its opening day collection of Rs 16 crore.
As per Sacnilk, the current box office collection of Tere Ishk Mein, after four days in India, stands at Rs 60.25 crore. The majority of it is contributed by its original Hindi version at around Rs 58 crore. The Tamil dubbed version has garnered only around Rs 2.25 crore in four days, despite the presence of Tamil superstar Dhanush and music by AR Rahman.
In the process, Tere Ishk Mein has also surpassed the lifetime domestic box office collection of its spiritual predecessor, Aanand L Rai and Dhanush’s 2013 film Raanjhanaa, which concluded its eight-week run at Rs 60.22 crore. Another film of the same director-actor combo, Atrangi Re, released directly on JioHotstar in 2021 during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Tere Ishk Mein has also surpassed Aanand L Rai’s last directorial, Raksha Bandhan (2022), starring Akshay Kumar, which earned Rs 48.63 crore at the domestic box office. It’s also edged past Dhanush’s latest Tamil directorial, Idli Kadai, which collected Rs 50.48 crore across its Tamil and Telugu versions. But Kriti’s new film is yet to beat the earnings of her last theatrical release, Rajesh A Krishnan’s 2023 heist comedy Crew, which collected Rs 81.70 crore.
Tere Ishk Mein has also completely dismantled its competition at the box office, Vibhu Puri’s romantic drama Gustaakh Ishq, starring Vijay Varma and Fatima Sana Shaikh, which managed to earn only Rs 1.36 crore in four days. Dhanush and Kriti’s film has three more days to milk the current landscape before it faces fresh, stiff competition from Aditya Dhar’s action film Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, starting this Friday.
