Telangana’s senior IAS officer Sabyasachi Ghosh promoted to apex scale, redesignated as Spl Chief Secretary, ET Government

The Telangana government on Monday promoted senior IAS officer Sabyasachi Ghosh to the apex scale Level-17 in the Pay Matrix with effect from the date of assumption of the charge.

Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari in an order stated that 1994-batch IAS officer Sabyasachi Ghosh who is currently serving as the Principal Secretary, Animal Husbandry, Diary Development and Fisheries, has been promoted to the apex scale Level-17 in the Pay Matrix with effect from the date of assumption of the charge.

Consequent to promotion, Ghosh is retained in the same post, duly re-designating the post as Special Chief Secretary to Government, AH, DD & F Department, the order read.

Ghosh initially worked in the districts of Warangal, Vizianagaram, West Godavari, and Karimnagar. In 2000-2004 he was the Special Officer for the National Games, 2002. He was also the Special Officer for the first Afro-Asian Games 2003 handling mega infrastructure projects including Gachibowli Sports Complex and seven other stadiums.

As Special Officer he has also conducted the mega events of National Games 2003 in Hyderabad, and the first Afro-Asian Games 2003 in Hyderabad.

During 2004–2011, he was in the Tourism, Finance and Sports Department. During this time, he was entrusted with additional responsibilities of critical tasks like organizing the Asian Development Bank AGM 2005 in Hyderabad, and the Military World Games in 2007 in Hyderabad. He was entrusted with additional work of development of the Military World Games Village.

From 2011 to 2016, Ghosh was the Secretary to Government in the Industries and Commerce Department in the united Andhra Pradesh government and subsequently the Telangana government. During his tenure he handled important subjects such as mining, MSME, handlooms and textiles, industrial infrastructure development, food processing, leather, khadi & village industries and industrial promotion.

He was the Managing Director of the AP State Finance Corporation (Telangana) in 2015-2016, from 2017-2024, he was the Secretary/ Principal Secretary of Youth Services Department. During this tenure he was also the Chairman of the Telangana Society for Training and Employment Promotion (TSTEP), and the Chairman for SETWIN (Society for Training and Employment Promotion in Twin Cities). He was actively involved in skill development, training and employment promotion for the youth.
