TATA.ev to expand India’s EV charging network to 4,00,000 points by 2027

Srinagar, Mar 11: India’s electric vehicle leader TATA.ev has announced plans to more than double the country’s charging infrastructure over the next two years, targeting 400,000 charge points by 2027. The ambitious initiative builds on the company’s milestone of exceeding 200,000 EV sales and represents a significant escalation in India’s EV adoption strategy.

A statement said that the expansion includes deployment of 30,000+ public fast chargers through TATA.ev’s “Open Collaboration” framework, launch of the TATA.ev Mega Charger network for superfast, reliable charging, and introduction of TATA.ev Verified Chargers and a dedicated Charging Helpline to reduce range anxiety.

Since beginning its EV infrastructure efforts in 2019, TATA.ev has worked with Tata Group companies to develop home charging solutions while strategically building public charging stations in high-adoption urban areas. The company’s “Open Collaboration” framework, launched in 2023, has already doubled India’s public charging points to over 18,000 in just 15 months through partnerships with Charge Point Operators and Oil Marketing Companies.

TATA.ev’s current infrastructure includes 150,000+ private/home chargers, 2,500 community chargers, and 750 chargers at TATA dealerships across more than 200 cities. The company’s vehicles have collectively travelled over 5 billion kilometres, providing crucial data on user needs and optimal charging locations.

With the launch of “Open Collaboration 2.0,” TATA.ev aims to accelerate this growth dramatically to support India’s expanding electric vehicle ecosystem.
