Jammu, Apr 23: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Wednesday directed the Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat and other senior Police officers to take ìall means and measures to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack.î The directions, as per sources, have been issued in a security review meeting chaired by the Lieutenant Governor in Srinagar late Wednesday afternoon.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP Nalin Prabhat and all senior civil administration and police officials.
ìThe objective of the security review meeting was to ensure that the directions passed by the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah in yesterdayís high-level meeting are followed swiftly to bring those responsible for the Pahalgam terror attack to justice,î sources said.
During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor, as per sources, is learnt to have reiterated the commitment of the Centre to avenge the killings of innocent citizens and ensure the prevention of similar reprehensible acts of terrorism.
ìLG Sinha said that the Government of India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, remains fully committed to avenge the killing of our citizens and to also ensure that such dastardly acts of terrorism do not recur,î sources stated.
The Lieutenant Governor, as per sources, said that nothing could compensate for the innocent lives lost in the most heinous terror attack. ìBut it is important to ensure that we avenge the killing of our citizens and destroy terror outfits and those aiding and abetting terrorists wherever they are,î Sinha instructed.
The Lieutenant Governor is also learnt to have told the meeting that the Home Minister has directed that all might must be used for the strongest possible action against the perpetrators of the Pahalgam terror attack and the ecosystem of terrorism will have to be completely dismantled.
ìDCs and SSPs must take steps on the ground to restore a sense of security to the people and take care of their needs,î was his (LGís) another significant instruction during the meeting.
ìI want to assure the nation that the scourge of terrorism will be fought with determination. All means and measures must be taken to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack,î the Lieutenant Governor, as per sources, directed the DGP and senior police officials.
