The Supreme Court Collegium on Tuesday recommended the names of three advocates to be appointed as judges of Andhra Pradesh high court.

Considering the recommendations made by the Chief Justice of AP high court, the Collegium recommended the names of Maheswara Rao Kuncheam @Kuncham, Thoota Chnadra Dhana Sekar @ TCD Sekhar and Challa Gunaranjan for appointment as judges of the high court. While the Chief Justice of the AP High Court recommended the names after consulting with the two senior-most judges, the chief minister and governor did not express any opinion on the recommendations. If the recommendations from the state govt are not received within the prescribed time frame, it will be presumed by the Ministry of Law and Justice that the governor and chief minister have nothing to add to the proposal and to proceed accordingly.

To ascertain the suitability of the advocates for elevation, the Collegium has consulted with four judges of the Supreme Court conversant with the affairs of the high court of Andhra Pradesh.

Based on the opinions expressed by the judges of the Supreme Court, the Collegium has recommended the names of the advocates.
