Srinagar, Aug 14: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed heartfelt thoughts and prayers for those who have been affected by the cloudburst and flooding in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The PM Modi said that situation is being monitored closely while rescue and relief operations in the area are underway.

He also assured that every possible assistance will be provided to the victims of the disaster.

“My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the cloudburst and flooding in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir. The situation is being monitored closely. Rescue and relief operations are underway.  Every possible assistance will be provided to those in need,” PM Narendra Modi said on X.

It is worthwhile to mention that large-scale rescue and relief operations have been launched after a massive cloudburst struck a remote village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Thursday, killing at least 17 people and leading to widespread damage, officials said.

The disaster hit Chositi, the last motorable village en route to Machail Mata temple, between 12 noon and 1 pm, when a large number of people had gathered for the Machail Mata yatra.
