Jammu, Nov 21: Relief Commissioner (Migrants), Arvind Karwani Thursday stated that the demolished shops, belonging to displaced Kashmiri Pandits, in a demolition drive near Muthi camp were on Jammu Development Authority (JDA) land.
However, all the affected people would get new shops in the complex being built in adjoining Muthi phase II, Karwani said, while responding to media queries here, during his visit to the affected families.
JDA had demolished around a dozen shops in its demolition drive on Wednesday. This drive had created uproar as affected families alleged that demolition was resorted without serving them with prior notices. “They snatched our means of livelihood in a jiffy,” affected families had alleged.
BJP, PDP and Apni Party leaders, while condemning the action, demanded immediate relief for affected members of the displaced community.
