Ramban, Sep 25: The Srinagar–Jammu National Highway remained open for one-way traffic of light, medium and heavy vehicles towards Kashmir on Thursday, officials said.
Traffic authorities informed that the highway was functional only on a regulated basis due to single-lane stretches at Thard, Udhampur, Nashri–Dalwass and between Maroog and Kishtwari Pattar, besides the on-foot movement of nomadic families with their livestock towards Jammu, which slowed down vehicular movement.
Earlier in the day, hundreds of Jammu-bound trucks carrying apple consignments were cleared between Chenani and Udhampur sectors. After the backlog of these heavy vehicles was managed, light and medium passenger vehicles from Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts were also allowed to move towards Jammu up to 10 am for the Nashri tunnel.
