Jammu, Jul 28: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday said that many kinetic operations, like the one conducted in Dachigam forests on July 28, eliminating three terrorists, had been a regular feature for the past several months in J&K, with an avowed objective to annihilate terrorism.
However, he pointed out that the media would focus only on those operations where the terrorists were killed, yet many other important kinetic operations which helped save lives of people often did not get much attention.
LG Sinha was responding to media queries this evening after handing over the appointment letters to 80 Next of Kin (NoK) of terror victims at Jammu Convention Centre.
“It is true that three Pakistani terrorists were eliminated near the ridge (in Dachigam forests of Srinagar). It would not be correct on my part to provide you with those details (of encounter). Police administration will give a detailed account of it. As soon as such operations are conducted, I will get the information. I’m provided with a detailed account,” he said.
“A large number of similar kinetic operations have been underway for the past several months, being conducted jointly by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Indian Army and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The encounters, where the terrorists are eliminated, are highlighted on a grand scale by the media. But several such operations which help save people’s lives, often do not catch our attention,” the LG said.
He commended the Indian Army, J&K Police and all those engaged in the ongoing Dachigam operation.
“I greet them from the core of my heart. J&K, for long, has suffered due to terrorism sponsored by Pakistan, but now our security forces are resolute in their determination to annihilate terrorists and their entire terror ecosystem so that we can breathe freely,” LG Sinha said.
Earlier, speaking to the media after flagging off the Buddha Amarnath Yatra from Jammu, he said that all desired arrangements were made for the yatra.
“While Shri Amarnath Yatra is progressing smoothly to the satisfaction of pilgrims, who are wholeheartedly appreciating the arrangements made to facilitate them and make the yatra a memorable experience. Similarly, the authorities have made elaborate arrangements for a peaceful, serene and memorable Shri Budda Amarnath Yatra,” the LG said.
He said that over 3.77 lakh yatris have already paid obeisance at Amarnath Yatra.
“J&K has always been known for a circuit of pilgrim places related to Lord Shiva. We are committed to bettering the experience of pilgrims,” LG Sinha said.
He congratulated the security forces, J&K Police, and all the personnel for eliminating Pakistan-sponsored terrorists during the anti-terror operation in Srinagar.
