Jammu, July 29: Amid growing demands for transparency and justice in the killing of Parvez Ahmed, a tribal youth from Niki Tawi area of Jammu, the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) South on Tuesday issued a public notice seeking cooperation from citizens in the ongoing investigation.
The notice invites individuals to voluntarily come forward with any relevant information, eyewitness accounts, video footage, or other evidence that may aid in the probe into Parvez Ahmed’s death. The SDM, who has been assigned to conduct an independent inquiry, will be recording statements until August 4, the notice said.
The case has sparked public outrage after reports suggested the involvement of law enforcement officials in the youth’s death. Two policemen have already been placed under suspension in connection with the case, while a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to carry out a parallel and in-depth investigation.
Authorities have urged the public to assist in the inquiry process to help establish the facts surrounding the tragic incident. The SDM South Jammu will serve as the nodal officer for the collection of public statements and materials. [KNT]
