Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), one of the country’s major steel producers, has opened its first office in the Middle East. The new Representative Office, located in Dubai, was inaugurated by the Union Minister of Steel and Heavy Industries, H.D. Kumaraswamy.
Strategic location for MENA outreach
According to the company, the Dubai office will act as a hub for increasing steel exports and building connections within the industry. Its location is expected to support SAIL’s access to markets in the Middle East and North Africa, and to strengthen trade relations between India and the UAE.This development is part of SAIL’s wider strategy to expand its global operations. It is also aligned with India’s broader target of reaching a crude steel production capacity of 300 million tonnes by 2030.
The event was attended by the Consul General of India to Dubai, Satish Kumar Sivan; SAIL Chairman Amarendu Prakash; NMDC Chairman Amitava Mukherjee; Joint Secretary, Ministry of Steel, V.K. Tripathi; and senior officials from SAIL, the Ministry of Steel, NMDC, and MECON.
