Residential house gutted in Rajwar Handwara

Kupwara, Dec 16: A double-storey residential house was gutted in Dardihaji, Rajwar area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday.

The Fire & Emergency Department, Police, and Army worked to control the fire but failed to control the raging flames and with the result the house turned into ashes.

Belongings worth lakhs of rupees were gutted but no loss of life or injuries were reported.

Residents were furious, highlighting that despite hundreds of houses being gutted in Rajwar over the years, the administration and the government had failed to establish a Fire and Emergency Service station in the nearby Zachaldara.

They said that this negligence continues to endanger lives and property in the region. The house belonged to Muhammad Yasin Pir of Dardhaji.
