Recently, a video of Charu Asopa, who was married to Bollywood actor Sushmita Sen’s brother Rajeev Sen, went viral. In the video, the actor could be seen selling salwar suits for a living in Bikaner. Charu cited financial crunch as her reason to take the massive step of starting a new business and relocating. Now, her ex-husband, Rajeev Sen, has reacted to her claims. While he expressed happiness in the actor starting a venture of her own to earn money, he slammed the claims of her being in financial crunch.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Rajeev said, “She could afford a cruise trip with her brother and his wife—which is pretty expensive—and she paid for everyone’s ticket. Where does this financial struggle come into play?”
Rajeev Sen claimed that Charu Asopa has been looking for a property in Bikaner. “She’s looking to buy a house in Bikaner—or maybe already has—which takes serious money. Even with a loan, buying property isn’t cheap. Plus, if she’s managing cruises and her regular shopping—as seen in her daily vlogs—it clearly shows she’s not struggling financially. Anyone truly under financial stress wouldn’t even dream of buying property.”

Rajeev also accused Charu of keeping their daughter away from him and not responding to his messages of wanting to meet Ziana in Bikaner. Rajeev expressed his disappointment in his ex-wife for making their lives public and discussing her finances with media.
In an earlier interview with Hindustan Times, Charu Asopa said, “Living in Mumbai is not easy; it costs money. For me, the monthly living cost came up to Rs 1 lakh -1.5 lakh, including the rent and everything, which was not easy. Furthermore, I would rather not leave Ziana alone with a nanny when I am shooting in Naigaon (Mumbai). It used to get extremely difficult. Moving back home and starting my own thing was completely planned; it wasn’t a rushed decision.”
Charu Asopa and Rajeev Sen married in 2019. They welcomed a baby girl in 2021. The couple divorced in 2023.
