On the occasion of World Fisheries Day, Minister of State for Fisheries and Home, Jawahar Singh Bedham, launched the Fisheries Department’s new e-auction portal, licence management system, and IEC material developed through NEML at the Secretariat on Friday.
The minister stated that departmental processes will now be carried out online. Through the e-auction portal, activities such as bidding for fisheries contracts, deposit of contract amounts, and issuance of licences will be conducted under the department’s supervision.
Initially, the portal will be used for the remaining Category “A” and “B” reservoirs. From next year, the department also plans to conduct contract processes for Category “C” and “D” reservoirs through the same portal.
Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Secretary Samit Sharma said that the portal will allow the contract process to be completed with transparency and within timelines, while also reducing the time required.
He informed that details of the remaining Category “A” and “B” reservoirs for 2025–26, along with reserved rates and tender documents, have been uploaded on the portal. Registration of interested bidders is underway.
The event was attended by Fisheries Department Director Sanchita Bishnoi, Special Secretary D C Meena, joint directors, deputy directors, senior accounts officers and other officials. Towards the end of the programme, the minister marked the observance of World Fisheries Day with the officers and staff present.
