Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said that the complete filling of the Bisalpur Dam is a matter of great joy. For the first time, a gate of the Bisalpur Dam has been opened in the month of July. He also stated that the filling of the Navnera Dam (Itawa, Kota), which is a component of the Ram Jal Setu Link Project, will prove beneficial not only for water supply but also for agricultural activities.
He affirmed that the state government is working with full commitment to ensure adequate water supply in all regions of Rajasthan. Through projects like the Ram Jal Setu Link, Yamuna Water Agreement, and the Dewas Project, as well as the Indira Gandhi Canal and Gang Canal, the government is ensuring water supply for farmers and all sections of society. He added that good monsoon rainfall will help ensure uninterrupted and regular water distribution.
Bisalpur fills for two consecutive years
Notably, July 24, 2025, marks a historic day for the state. Due to heavy rainfall in the catchment area of the Bisalpur Dam, the reservoir reached its full capacity of 315.50 RL metres. Subsequently, gate number 10 was opened by one metre, releasing approximately 6,000 cusecs of water. This is the first time the dam has reached full capacity in the month of July. Additionally, it is also the first time that the dam has remained full for two consecutive years (2024–2025). It is worth noting that the Bisalpur project ensures drinking water supply for nearly one crore people in the Jaipur, Ajmer, and Tonk districts.
Three gates opened at Navnera Dam
Meanwhile, the Navnera Dam also reached full capacity on Thursday. Its level touched 214 RL meters, following which gates number 11, 12, and 13 were opened, releasing 600 cusecs of water. This release will help raise the groundwater level and water in wells in the upstream areas near the Kali Sindh River. It is noteworthy that the total storage capacity of the dam is 226.65 million cubic meters, while its current storage is 159.87 million cubic meters.
