JAIPUR: Investment MoUs worth ₹6.57 lakh crore were exchanged with the investors from the energy sector at the Energy Pre-Summit in the presence of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma in Jaipur on Wednesday. The MoUs signed have proposed to set up projects across various segments of the renewable energy and power generation sector including solar, wind, green hydrogen, hybrid, pump storage, battery storage and green ammonia projects among others. The Chief Minister speaking on the occasion said that the on-ground implementation of the signed investment proposals will generate approximately 70,000 new jobs in the state.Giving a call to the investors to work towards making Rajasthan Atmanirbhar in the energy sector and making it energy-surplus, Sharma said, “Rajasthan presents a golden opportunity for investment in the renewable energy sector. The state hosts world’s largest solar park with a capacity of 2245 MW, gets over 325 days of sunshine and presents limitless opportunities in the solar and wind energy sector. We are aiming to make Rajasthan an energy-surplus state that not only meets the demand of the state but also meets the demands of other states and countries in the region.”
The CM also said that the government will soon launch the Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024 that will provide a series of new incentives in the energy sector including for newer segments of renewable energy such as pump storage, green hydrogen, battery storage, bioenergy among others.
Accompanying the Chief Minister on the occasion, Minister of State for Energy (Independent Charge), Government of Rajasthan, Heeralal Nagar, said, “The government is committed to work towards expeditious on-ground implementation of the investment MoUs through comprehensive monitoring and handholding of the investors. The initiative taken by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma Ji to organize the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024 in the very first year of the tenure has been taken with an intention to ensure that the MoUs are converted into running projects in the coming 3-4 years.”Expressing happiness at the signing of investment MoUs in the diverse segments of renewable energy at the pre-summit, Chief Secretary, Government of Rajasthan, Sudhansh Pant said, “Energy sector has been at the forefront in garnering a huge amount of investment under the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024. While the state continues to be a dominant player in the solar and wind energy segments, it is very heartening to note that a lot of investors today have proposed to set up projects in new areas of renewable energy.”
Additional Chief Secretary-Energy, Government of Rajasthan, Alok, speaking on the occasion said, “Rajasthan has created an investment-friendly ecosystem and right policy environment in the energy sector which will contribute not only to Rajasthan’s energy transition but that of the entire country. The launch of new policies in the sector such as the Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024 will further propel the state towards attaining resilience and self-reliance in the sector.”
The other prominent dignitaries present on the occasion included Alok Gupta, Chairman, RREC and Principal Secretary to CM and Aarti Dogra, Chairperson, DISCOMS, Government of Rajasthan, Nathmal Didel, MD, RVPNL, Om Prakash Kasera, MD, RRECL & RUVIT, and other officials of the government of Rajasthan.
In the run-up to the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024, the government of Rajasthan has organised investor meets around the country as well as overseas. The domestic investors’ meets have already been organised in Mumbai and New Delhi whereas on the global front, the investors’ meets have so far been organised in South Korea, Japan, UAE, Qatar, Singapore, Germany, the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia.
The extensive outreach at the domestic and international level has resulted in Government of Rajasthan securing investment proposals (MoUs) worth over Rs 20 lakh crore so far, reflecting the resounding faith of the investor and business community in the state’s efforts.
‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024
The Government of Rajasthan, led by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, will be hosting the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024 on 9th, 10th, and 11th December 2024 in the capital, Jaipur. The state government has signed MoUs for investments worth over Rs 20 lakh crore with different firms so far through various domestic and international roadshows held in Mumbai, Delhi, South Korea, Japan, UAE, Qatar, Singapore, Germany, United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia as well as through different sectoral pre-summits and district-level summits.
The 3-day mega summit, which aims to attract and facilitate global investment, innovation, and partnerships in the state, is organized with the support of the Industry and Commerce Department, Bureau of Investment Promotion (BIP), and RIICO, with BIP serving as the nodal department for this summit. During the summit, thematic sessions will be organised on different focus sectors, including Agriculture, Renewable, Education and Skilling, Infrastructure, Tourism, Startups, Mining and Country Sessions will also be held.
The summit is being organised in association with the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), which is the summit partner of the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024. PwC India is the knowledge partner of the summit.
