Rajasthan’s health infrastructure is undergoing a remarkable transformation, reflecting the state government’s strong focus on healthcare expansion, innovation, and private sector collaboration. Under the Rising Rajasthan initiative, 82 MoUs have been successfully implemented on the ground, translating into an impressive ₹5,608 crore worth of investment—around 26 per cent of the total commitments.
Gayatri Rathore, Rajasthan’s Principal Secretary, Medical and Health and Family Welfare, said that the pace of implementation reflects Rajasthan’s investor-friendly ecosystem and the government’s proactive approach. “We are witnessing a significant transition from intent to implementation. Many of these investments are already in advanced stages of construction, bringing world-class healthcare closer to the people of Rajasthan,” she noted.
During the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, a total of 316 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth more than ₹20,000 crore were signed in the medical and health sector. These MoUs aimed to boost healthcare delivery, establish advanced facilities, and encourage pharmaceutical manufacturing in Rajasthan.
The majority of the investments are concentrated in Jaipur, Kotputli, Alwar, Deedwana, Jhunjhunu, and Sikar, regions that are emerging as healthcare and pharmaceutical hubs. The spread of investment across these districts also highlights the government’s focus on balanced regional growth rather than restricting development to the state capital alone.
Strengthening drug manufacturing
A large portion of the MoUs are dedicated to drug and pharmaceutical manufacturing, marking Rajasthan’s growing prominence in the life sciences sector.
These units are not only generating employment but also enhancing the availability of quality medicines within the state, reducing dependency on imports from other regions.
In addition to manufacturing, a substantial number of MoUs are focused on the creation of super-speciality hospitals, cancer care centres, and multi-speciality hospitals. These healthcare facilities are being developed through private investments and public-private partnerships (PPP), addressing the state’s critical need for advanced tertiary care.
Jaipur and Alwar have emerged as hotspots for cancer care and multi-speciality hospitals, while Deedwana and Sikar are witnessing progress in establishing mid-sized facilities that will provide specialized services to nearby districts.
According to Rathore, the establishment of these hospitals will drastically reduce the need for patients to travel outside the state for complex treatments. “Our goal is to ensure that world-class healthcare is available within Rajasthan’s own ecosystem,” she said.
Policy support and future outlook
The Rajasthan government has been instrumental in creating a conducive policy environment for healthcare investment. Initiatives like the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme (RIPS), land allotment under RIICO, and sector-specific facilitation through the Rajasthan Medical and Health Infrastructure Development Authority have played a vital role in converting MoUs into reality.
The focus now is on accelerating the implementation of the remaining MoUs and ensuring that each project contributes effectively to employment generation, skill development, and healthcare accessibility.
“The Rising Rajasthan initiative is not just about investment numbers; it’s about the creation of sustainable healthcare infrastructure that can serve citizens for decades,” Rathore added.
