Rajasthan has secured the first position in India under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), a centrally sponsored scheme, for September 2025, based on overall performance indicators related to registration, payment processing, and timely benefit transfer, according to data shared by the Department of Information and Public Relation.

The ranking was determined by assessing multiple parameters, including beneficiary registration, fund disbursement, completion of cash transfers within 30 days, and resolution of registered grievances. The state achieved top performance in all these categories, resulting in its first-place ranking at the national level.

Under the PMMVY, more than 16 lakh beneficiaries in Rajasthan have received financial benefits amounting to ₹552 crore since the financial year 2023–24. The scheme aims to provide partial compensation for wage loss during pregnancy and to promote safe delivery and healthy nutrition practices.

As per the scheme guidelines, women pregnant for the first time receive ₹5,000 in two installments. For the second pregnancy, if a girl child is born and the prescribed vaccination schedule is completed, a cash benefit of ₹6,000 is transferred directly to the beneficiary’s Aadhaar-linked bank or post office account.

The scheme operates through a centralised online platform to ensure transparency and timely delivery of benefits. Payments are made only after verification of eligibility, pregnancy registration, and completion of institutional delivery or vaccination milestones.

Officials from the Women and Child Development Department stated that Rajasthan’s top ranking reflects improvements in service delivery efficiency, timely fund disbursement, and grievance resolution. The department aims to continue enhancing monitoring mechanisms and outreach to ensure that all eligible women, especially in rural and remote areas, can access the benefits of the scheme without delays.
