Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has directed all departments to identify and repair damaged or dilapidated government buildings across the state to prevent accidents. In case of any incident causing loss of life, individual accountability will now be fixed.
According to the official press release, departments have been asked to prepare a list of government buildings, including schools and Anganwadi centres, constructed in the last six years. A state-level committee will be formed to examine the quality of these constructions.
During a meeting held at the Chief Minister’s residence on Wednesday, Sharma instructed that approval for repair work be obtained from the Disaster Management Fund and that proposals be submitted on time to begin work promptly. Special attention has been called for the inspection and maintenance of rural buildings. Employees working in such buildings are expected to report structural issues to relevant authorities.
Anganwadi centres shifted from unsafe buildings
Officials informed that damaged and unsafe Anganwadi centres have been shifted to alternate locations. The government has allocated ₹50 crore in the 2025–26 Budget for repair of 5,000 Anganwadi buildings.
Repair work for schools and hospitals also ordered
Departments including Public Works, Education, Women and Child Development, and Health have been directed to inspect all government buildings—especially schools, hospitals, and offices—and submit detailed district-wise reports to initiate repair work.
Reports related to the condition and repair requirements of buildings were presented by departments, including Education, Women and Child Development, Panchayati Raj, and Health.
Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant and senior officials from various departments attended the meeting.>
