Rajasthan plans to become a $4.3 trillion economy by 2047, unveiling an ambitious “Viksit Rajasthan @2047” vision document that outlined a two-decade roadmap for economic transformation, inclusive growth, and sustainable development.
The Rajasthan government recently released the document under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s national initiative “Viksit Bharat @2047”.
The document lays out a detailed roadmap for the state’s long-term development, focusing on economic growth, social inclusion, sustainable infrastructure, and citizen empowerment. It emphasizes initiatives for youth, women, farmers, and other marginalized groups while setting clear targets for progress over the next two decades.
The document sets the framework for Rajasthan to become a leading state in inclusive and sustainable development, transparent governance, and citizen participation by 2047. It covers 13 key sectors grouped under four themes: Welfare and social empowerment, rapid development and employment generation, future-oriented infrastructure and environmental resilience, and governance, policy, and financial management.
These areas collectively define the state’s approach to improving health and education services, modernizing agriculture, expanding industrial and tourism opportunities, ensuring water and energy security, and promoting environmental sustainability.
According to the document, Rajasthan aims to achieve a $4.3 trillion economy by 2047. Agriculture will be transformed through climate-resilient and technology-driven practices to increase productivity, while industrial growth is expected to generate over one crore direct and indirect jobs.
Health targets include reducing maternal mortality to 15 per 100,000 live births, lowering infant mortality to below 10 per 1,000 live births, and increasing life expectancy to 77 years. The state also plans to achieve full school enrollment, expand skill-based education, and raise female workforce participation to 60 per cent.
Efforts to boost exports and achieve energy self-sufficiency include increasing renewable energy production from 33 GW to 290 GW and ensuring 24×7 electricity supply. Environmental objectives include carbon neutrality, biodiversity conservation, and universal access to clean drinking water.
The document was prepared by the Rajasthan Institute for Transformation and Innovation in accordance with NITI Aayog guidelines and was approved by the state cabinet on 23 August 2025.
The implementation roadmap was released by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on 13 October. Over 1,100 meetings at state, division, and district levels were conducted to incorporate feedback from stakeholders, experts, officials, and the public. A state-level steering committee under the Chief Secretary has been established to monitor progress, and Project Management Units have been set up across departments to ensure execution of the targets.
