Rajasthan Agriculture Minister launches ‘My Policy in My Hands’ campaign under PM Fasal Bima Yojana, ETGovernment

Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Kirodi Lal on Wednesday launched the state-level programme for distributing policies under the Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme (PM Fasal Bima Yojana) for Kharif 2025 at Pant Krishi Bhawan, marking the start of the ‘My Policy in My Hands’ campaign.

The minister stated that 8.71 crore crop insurance policies have been issued across India for Kharif 2025, of which 2.16 crore, or approximately 25 per cent, are in Rajasthan.

Under the scheme, farmers receive 25 per cent of the insured amount if the crop fails after sowing. The scheme covers losses caused by natural events such as unseasonal rainfall, hailstorms, cyclones, and post-harvest drying losses. Both central and state governments are promoting the scheme, and timely claim payments have contributed to its adoption.

During policy distribution, awareness activities will be conducted in all Gram Panchayats. Insurance companies plan to organise camps at the Gram Panchayat level to distribute approximately 2.16 crore policies to around 32.10 lakh farmers.

Under the PM Fasal Bima Yojana, farmers pay 2 per cent of the premium for Kharif crops, 1.5 per cent for Rabi crops, and 5 per cent for commercial and horticultural crops. Crop insurance has been voluntary for all farmers since Kharif 2022, but indebted farmers must submit a written request seven days before the deadline if they wish to opt out.
