Police nab 5 long-term absconders in Baramulla, Awantipora

Srinagar, Oct 19: In a major breakthrough, Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested five long-term absconders in separate operations carried out in Baramulla and Awantipora.

In Baramulla, police apprehended Noor Mohammad Gojri, son of Abdul Rahman Gojri, a resident of Kunzer, who had been evading arrest since 2008. He was wanted in FIR No. 107/2003 under Sections 366 and 376 RPC registered at Police Station Kunzer. Acting on specific intelligence, a police team from Kunzer tracked him down and arrested him during a late-night operation in Beerwah, Budgam. The accused has been taken into custody and further legal proceedings have been initiated.

Meanwhile, in Awantipora, police executed non-bailable warrants under Section 299 CrPC / 335 BNSS issued by the Principal Sessions Court Pulwama against four absconders тАФ Yawar Manzoor Sofi, Muzamil Rasool Wagay, Farooq Ahmad Mir, and Mohammad Shafi Wani, all residents of Pampore. The individuals were wanted in different cases registered at Police Station Pampore.

A special team led by SHO Pampore, under the supervision of SDPO Pampore, successfully arrested the accused from various locations. They were subsequently produced before the Court of Law.

The J&K Police reaffirmed its commitment to bringing fugitives to justice, ensuring that no offender evading the law remains at large.
