Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday released the 20th instalment of the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi Yojana from his parliamentary constituency of Kashi, Uttar Pradesh, marking another milestone in the world’s largest Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme.

As part of this instalment, over 52.16 lakh farmer families in Gujarat received financial assistance of more than ₹1,118 crore, directly credited into their bank accounts through DBT.

To mark the occasion, a state-level ‘PM-KISAN Utsav Diwas’ event was organised in Gandhinagar in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. More than three lakh farmers across Gujarat tuned in to the live broadcast of the Prime Minister’s address, alongside state cabinet members and officials.

The Chief Minister highlighted the Prime Minister’s commitment to the welfare of the nation’s farmers, calling the PM-KISAN scheme a “revolutionary initiative” that showcases how welfare measures can be swiftly and effectively implemented when driven by intent and service. He reiterated the PM’s vision of GYAN — Garib (poor), Annadata (farmers), Yuva (youth), and Nari Shakti (women empowerment) — as the foundational pillars of a Viksit Bharat.

The PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi Yojana, launched in 2019, has so far transferred ₹3.69 lakh crore directly into the bank accounts of over 9.70 crore farmer families across the country through 19 instalments. With the 20th instalment, ₹20,500 crore has been disbursed nationwide.

Gujarat alone has received over ₹19,993 crore in total disbursements under the scheme so far, benefiting lakhs of small and marginal farmers.

The Chief Minister also lauded the strides taken in modernising agriculture under the Prime Minister’s leadership. He pointed out that the budget for the agriculture sector has increased fivefold over the past decade, 25 crore Soil Health Cards have been distributed, and several initiatives to boost natural farming and millets have been launched.

He also spoke about the recently approved PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana, aimed at improving productivity in 100 low-yield districts, and the PM Kisan Sampada Yojana, which further supports the government’s holistic approach to agriculture.

During the event, Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel addressed farmers virtually from Rajkot, while the Chief Minister distributed aid under several state agriculture schemes. Notably, over 11 lakh farmers have registered through the i-Khedut portal to avail of state government support for sowing, production, and sale of crops.

Dr. Anju Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary of the Agriculture Department, welcomed dignitaries and shared that the event was live-streamed at over 7,000 locations across Gujarat, reinforcing the reach of the PM-KISAN scheme. She reaffirmed that Gujarat is committed to supporting its farmers at every stage through substantial budget allocations and digital outreach.

The event also saw participation from Gandhinagar District Panchayat President Shilpa Patel, Gandhinagar North MLA Ritaben Patel, and senior officials from agriculture and allied departments.
