Parihar, Azeem appointed as High Court judges

Srinagar, Apr 29: The Centre on Tuesday notified the appointment of two judicial officers, Sanjay Parihar and Shahzad Azeem, as judges of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh.

According to a notification issued by the Centre through the Ministry of Law and Justice, in the exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President appointed Sanjay Parihar and Shahzad Azeem to be Judges of the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.

On April 16, the Supreme Court Collegium approved the proposal for the appointment of Parihar and Azeem, as judges of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh.

Born on December 19, 1968, in Horna Palmar Kishtwar, Sanjay Parihar commenced his judicial career on December 1, 1997.

Over the years, he has held several pivotal positions including Principal District and Sessions Judge in several districts.

Parihar remained Presiding Officer of TADA and POTA Court, Anti-Corruption Court Jammu, MACT Jammu, Special Tribunal, Sales Tax Tribunal, and Registrar (Judicial) of the High Court at Jammu Wing.

He has also served as Registrar in the Supreme Court.

Born in Gohlad Mendhar Poonch, Shahzad Azeem entered the judicial service on August 5, 2011.

He served as Principal District Judge Rajouri.

He also held the post of Director of the J&K Judicial Academy and Registrar inspections besides serving Registrar vigilance.

Azeem has also served as Registrar General of the High Court.
