NEW DELHI: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) recorded over 211 crore Aadhaar authentication transactions in May 2025, reflecting the growing reliance on India’s digital identity infrastructure for welfare delivery and service access. This marks an increase over both April 2025 and the 201.76 crore transactions recorded in May last year. With this, the cumulative number of Aadhaar authentications since its inception has crossed 15,223 crore.
The steady rise in transaction volume underscores the central role of Aadhaar in India’s digital economy and its function as a facilitator of ease of living, enabling millions to voluntarily access services across government and private sectors.
A notable growth was also recorded in face authentication, with 15.49 crore transactions in May. Powered by UIDAI’s AI/ML-based face recognition solutions, this mode of authentication is increasingly being adopted by over 100 entities across ministries, financial institutions, telecom companies, and oil marketing firms for efficient service delivery.
