Srinagar, February 08: As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took an early lead in the Delhi polls, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah appeared to blame internal conflicts within the Opposition’s Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) for the setback.
Sharing a post from digital platform DeKoder on X, which quoted political analyst Manisha Priyam suggesting that Congress was eating into Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) votes, Abdullah remarked, “Aur lado aapas mein [and continue fighting each other]!!!”
The Delhi polls saw key INDIA bloc members, including West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party, backing AAP and campaigning in its favor. However, with Congress contesting separately, the infighting appears to have hurt AAP’s chances, potentially benefiting the BJP.
The early trends highlight the challenges facing the INDIA bloc as it struggles to present a united front against the BJP ahead of crucial national elections.(KDC)
