NTPC Marks 51st Raising Day with Commitment to 150 GW Capacity by 2032, ETGovernment

NTPC Limited marked its 51st Raising Day at its Northern Region Headquarters (NRHQ) in Lucknow on November 7, 2025, with employees coming together to celebrate the company’s five-decade journey in India’s power sector. The celebrations highlighted NTPC’s role in driving the country’s energy growth and its continued focus on operational excellence.

Goutam Deb, Regional Executive Director (North), hoisted the NTPC flag, followed by the rendition of the NTPC Geet, reaffirming the organisation’s steadfast commitment to nation-building and the vision of its founding leaders.

In his address, Deb highlighted NTPC’s remarkable journey from a single project in Singrauli to becoming India’s largest power producer with an installed capacity of 84,849 MW across coal, gas, hydro, solar, wind, nuclear, and biomass sources. He reiterated NTPC’s goal of achieving 150 GW by 2032, including 60 GW of renewable energy.

He shared that the NTPC Group generated 252.83 billion units of electricity, with the Northern Region contributing 67.97 billion units (26.88 per cent).

The Northern Region, NTPC’s largest operational area, continues to set benchmarks in safety, efficiency, environment, and sustainability, and has achieved notable milestones in CSR, awards, and training & development.

As part of the Raising Day celebrations, NRHQ launched a branding initiative at Lucknow Metro, showcasing NTPC’s commitment to sustainability and national development. The exterior train branding raises awareness of NTPC’s pivotal role in lighting up the nation and promoting clean, green energy. Deb inaugurated the event in the presence of Samiran Sinha Ray, CGM (HR), senior officials, employees, Uttra Club members, their families, and UPMRC officials.

On this occasion, the Uttra Club extended support to the Nirvan Rehabilitation Centre, Lucknow, for mentally challenged women, by donating a washing machine, body warmers, and hygiene kits under its CSR initiative, led by Bipasa Deb (President), Sangita Sinha Ray (Vice President) and other members.

To mark the occasion, employees were awarded with Hindi Pakhwada awards. The celebration began with employees planting saplings and concluded with the release of balloons to commemorate the occasion.
