What Makes Punjabi Mehri So Unique?
Mehri is the Punjabi version of curd rice. Traditionally, curd rice is prepared with yoghurt and rice, topped with a curry leaves tadka. However, this Punjabi version also includes turmeric and red chilli powder, giving it a hint of spice. The spices are added along with the rice instead of being added to the tadka. It is topped with curry leaves and dried red chillies alone. This dish is a staple in Punjabi households and is perfect to prepare for lunch or dinner.
What To Serve With Punjabi Mehri?
Mehri tastes good on its own. However, if you feel like pairing it with something, you can opt for any achaar (pickle) of your choice. Aam ka achaar or mirchi ka achaar make for the perfect accompaniment. You can even have some fresh salad along with it. If you wish to put together a wholesome meal, you can pair it with sabzi and any dal of your choice.
