NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has not issued any guidelines regarding the use of digital communication tools like Slack by government employees, Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
Responding to a query on the imposition of specific digital tools like Slack on government employees without proper consultation or adherence to prescribed norms, the minister clarified that no such directives had been issued by his ministry.
He further stated that the Government of India’s policies prioritize a safe, trusted, and accountable cyberspace, ensuring regulatory compliance and security in digital operations. Key regulatory initiatives led by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) focus on strengthening legal frameworks, enhancing data protection and cybersecurity infrastructure, and promoting awareness among individuals and organizations.
The statement comes amid growing concerns over the use of third-party digital collaboration tools in government offices and their implications on data security and compliance with official protocols.
