NC cheating people by resorting to double-speak: BJP

Jammu, Apr 17: J&K Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief spokesperson Sunil Sethi Thursday criticised the National Conference (NC) for, what he said, “practising double-speak and thus deceiving the public mandate.”

“The party (NC) speaks in two languages. It chooses its narrative according to the time, and place as per their suitability, thus demonstrating its duplicity. Former RAW Chief AS Dulat has created ripples in J&K political circles through his (yet to be released) book in which he has made a passing reference that former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah was not against the abrogation of Article 370,” Sethi said, while addressing a press conference at party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.

Sethi was accompanied by Arun Gupta, spokesperson, and Dr Pardeep Mahotra, media in-charge, J&K BJP.

J&K BJP chief spokesperson said, “Majority of people including the political parties endorse abrogation of 370 in open or secret. The people of Jammu and Kashmir feel cheated with the double-speak of the senior National Conference leaders on this issue.”

“The regional political parties favour continuation of Article 370 in the public to cheat them but they view Article 370 as hampering the progress and the lasting peace process in J&K. Based on facts shared by A S Dulat in his book, it is clear that the political parties in the valley believe that BJP has done a favour to Jammu and Kashmir by abrogating Article 370. By placing counter-accusations on Dulat, the NC, now is attempting to save its face and escape the public wrath,” Sethi claimed.

Arun Gupta said, “NC has treated J&K as its ancestral property but it has been exposed now for its double standards on many occasions. The latest exposure by AS Dulat makes clear that whatever BJP told about NC, was right.”
