Ramban, Apr 30: A minor boy died on spot after he was hit by a loaded truck near Jaswal Bridge, Karool on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway late Wednesday evening.
Police sources said that Police Station Chanderkote received information that a rashly driven truck bearing registration number JK02CD-5186 on its way to Kashmir from Jammu hit a pedestrian, who died on the spot.
Police identified the deceased minor as Asif Hussain (12), son of Bashir Ahmed resident of Thanari, Chanderkote.
Sources said the unknown driver involved in the accident fled away from the spot leaving behind his vehicle. However efforts are on to arrest him.
Police said the body of the deceased boy was shifted to the mortuary of District Hospital Ramban for legal formalities. Police have registered a case FIR number 21 of 2025, under sections 281/125 BNS at Police Station Chanderkote.
