MHA orders transfers, postings of 78 IAS, IPS officers

Jammu, Sep 12: Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Thursday ordered the transfers and postings of 78 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS), including eight officers, moved to and from Jammu and Kashmir.

Out of 33 IAS officers transferred, one officer has been transferred from J&K while two new officers have been posted in the Union Territory (J&K).

These included Prerna Puri, an officer of the 2006 batch, who has been transferred from J&K to Chandigarh while Rupesh Kumar and Shahzad Alam, both 2019 batch officers have been posted in J&K, after being transferred from Chandigarh and Delhi respectively.

Out of a total of 45 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, three officers from J&K have been transferred outside while two officers from J&K.

Mahender Nath Tiwari, 2004 batch IPS officer, has been transferred from J&K to Delhi while Altaf Ahmed Khan, a 2010 batch officer and Shivam Siddharth, a 2020 batch officer, have been transferred to Mizoram from J&K.

An IPS officer of the 2017 batch Bisma Qazi and Sheikh Junaid Mehmood, an officer from the 2009 batch have been transferred to J&K from Delhi and Ladakh respectively.

“With the approval of Competent Authority, the transfer and posting of these IAS and IPS officers of AGMUT cadre have been ordered with immediate effect and until further orders,” read an order issued by MHA.

“The movement of the officers to and from Jammu and Kashmir shall be given effect to, only after completion of the election process in Jammu and Kashmir,” the order read.

Meanwhile, the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Department of Personnel and Training to extend the inter-cadre deputation of two IAS officers – Abhishek Sharma (CG: 2018) and Syeed Fakhrudin Hameed (AM: 2017) to J&K, for additional one year.
