Srinagar, Jun 3: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modiís visit to inaugurate Chenab Bridge, the worldís highest railway bridge and opening of Vande Bharat train service connecting Kashmir to Kanyakumari on June 6, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a preparatory meeting of senior administrative and Police officials at Raj Bhawan in Srinagar on Tuesday.
The LG discussed various aspects of preparations and appealed to the people to participate in large numbers and make the launch event a memorable one.
He said that the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link, a 272-km mega project, was Indiaís most ambitious project connecting Kashmir with Kanyakumari.
LG Sinha said that the rail link would ensure year-round connectivity to Kashmir.
He said that PM Modi would dedicate Chenab Bridge, the worldís highest railway bridge, to the nation.
The LG said that this engineering marvel was the highest railway arch bridge in the world at 1177 feet.
He said that it was a symbol of a resurgent India on the path to becoming a developed country by 2047.
Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo; Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat; ADGP Armed, Anand Jain; Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Ramesh Kumar; IGP Jammu, Bhim Sen Tuti; IGP Railways, Vivek Gupta; IGP Traffic, M Suleman Choudhary; Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and SSPs of Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Reasi, and Udhampur and senior officials of civil and Police administration also attended the meeting.
