Mahanavami celebrated across Jammu region with religious fervour

Jammu, Oct 1: Religious exuberance marked the celebration of Mahanavami festival, marking the culmination of the nine-day Navratri festival, across Jammu region on Wednesday.

Religious rituals of ‘Kanja Pujan’ and ‘Saank Visarjan’ were performed with piety by the devotees, many of whom observed fasts during the Navratri.

Tastefully decorated temples also witnessed heavy rush of devotees paying obeisance to different incarnations of the Goddess Durga since morning.

Bawe Wali Mata temple in Jammu, Kol Kandoli temple at Nagrota and Vaishno Devi shrine at Katra in Reasi district, as usual, drew the major rush of devotees.

The evening saw the women devotees joined by other members of their families immersing “Saankh” (barley shoots) in Tawi and other water bodies.

Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir Management Trust, Gandhi Nagar organized a special Pooja with Hawan-Yagya for celebrations of Mahanavami in the temple complex.

Trustees, special Invitees besides priests and other devotees participated in the celebrations. During nine days of Navratras, Mandir management organised recitation of Ramayna, Bhajans of ‘Maa Vaishno’ daily by religious scholars besides daily ‘Maha Aarti’. On Wednesday celebrations culminated with ‘Kanjak Pujan.’
