BHOPAL: With the introduction of the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), the Madhya Pradesh state assembly will become paperless from the monsoon session of 2025.
Assembly speaker Narendra Singh Tomar on Wednesday asked officials to provide information about the project to the MLAs before its implementation. Tomar was addressing a meeting of the NeVA House Committee in the assembly.
Tomar said this project needs to be implemented as soon as possible. He said that, so far, 25 houses of 23 states signed an MoU to implement the e-Vidhan project sponsored by the Central govt.
The project was implemented in 14 houses of 13 states in the country. Tomar further said the committee should now be informed about its progress every two months. It was mentioned in the meeting that the ministry of parliamentary affairs of the Central government was made the nodal department for this project.
Deputy CM Jagdish Deora discussed taking the help of NIC in the e-Vidhan project up to the district level. Parliamentary affairs minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said the committee of MLAs formed to implement this project should soon visit those states where the project was successfully implemented. He also emphasised paying special attention to cyber security for the e-Vidhan project.
In the meeting, the principal secretary of the legislative assembly, Awadhesh Pratap Singh, said 60 per cent of the total project cost will be borne by the central govt and 40 per cent by the state govt.
The Union govt has so far approved project works worth Rs 19.36 crore. Tablets, networks, e-learning, and e-facility centers were also discussed in the meeting. It was decided that for the convenience of the MLAs, the NIC center of the district will be called the nodal training agency so that the MLAs can conveniently avail themselves of this service.
The presentation of the project was given by Additional Secretary Virendra Kumar. It was mentioned in the meeting that under the Digital India Programme of the central govt, e-Vidhan (NeVA) was launched to make all the assemblies of the country paperless and bring them onto one platform.
