Madharaasi trailer: AR Murugadoss bounces back after Sikandar setback with Sivakarthikeyan’s action-packed drama | Tamil News

After facing disappointment with his Hindi film Sikandar starring Salman Khan, filmmaker AR Murugadoss is back with another highly anticipated project, Madharaasi. The makers unveiled the film’s trailer on Sunday, and it shows Sivakarthikeyan in an all-new avatar. The film also stars Vidyut Jammwal and Rukmini Vasanth in lead roles.

The trailer begins with Rukmini’s character talking about how all religions teach that one must love others as they love themselves. We then see glimpses of the bond between Sivakarthikeyan and Rukmini’s characters. Soon, the trailer takes a darker turn as multiple trucks loaded with illegal arms and ammunition head to the state of Tamil Nadu. While the police plan to stop them, bombs explode in various locations across the city, and people are seen firing guns in the streets. Then enters Sivakarthikeyan’s character, who faces a rare mental condition. “If his brain decided to do something, he will go to extreme to do it,” a doctor says.

Later, Rukmini’s character is seen with villains who threaten to kill her. Sivakarthikeyan then springs into action and vows to save her. The following scenes show him in intense fights, building up to his most anticipated clash with the main antagonist, played by Vidyut Jammwal.

Written and directed by A.R. Murugadoss, Madharaasi’s cinematography is handled by Sudeep Elamon, while its music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Backed by Sri Lakshmi Movies, the film also stars Biju Menon, Vikranth, and Shabeer Kallarakkal in key roles, alongside Prem Kumar, Sanjay, and Sachana Namidass.

In a recent interaction with Galatta Plus, AR Murugadoss admitted that he initially planned to make Madharaasi in Hindi and had even pitched the lead character to Shah Rukh Khan. He said, “I didn’t plan the whole film with Shah Rukh Khan, but I did pitch the character to him long back. I told him 7-8 years ago, and even he liked it.” The filmmaker explained that since he only had the idea for the character and the full script had not materialised, the project faced long delays and never came to fruition.
