Jammu, Apr 12: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will be the chief guest in the maiden grand “Tawi Aarti”, to be organised on the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi tomorrow along “Tawi riverfront” banks. This was informed by Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Commissioner Devansh Yadhav, while addressing a press conference here on Saturday.
“On the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi tomorrow, “Tawi Aarti” and “Baisakhi fair” are being organised by Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) in collaboration with Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL), Directorate of Tourism and Raghunath Bazar Vikas Corridor Council,” Yadav said. He stated, “Tawi Riverfront is a prestigious project of JSCL. Major portion of it has been completed and only some components along the sides are remaining. “Aarti” will be performed along the left bank of Tawi riverfront. We cordially invite all the Jammuites to participate in this grand event.” Giving a brief account of the programme to be organised, JMC Commissioner said, “At 4.30 pm tomorrow, a ‘Dangal’, which is historically a part of Baisakhi celebration, will be organised. To promote Dogri culture and cuisines, there will be food courts for the families; special spaces for children, as part of “Baisakhi Mela.” In the evening, 45-minute long “Tawi Aarti” will be performed, commencing from 6 pm.”
He stated that though “Tawi Aarti” would have been performed in the past also but it would be organised at such a grand scale for the first time at “Tawi riverfront Ghat.”
“Raghunath Vikas Council team has trained its “Acharyas” for this special “Tawi Aarti”. There will be no entry fee and the event is open for the public. Sufficient parking space has been created besides other basic amenities, including toilets. Spaces for families will be available. A laser show to display grandeur of Tawi Aarti and riverfront will be an added attraction,” Yadav said. Senior officers of Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL), Directorate of Tourism and Raghunath Bazar Vikas Corridor Council accompanied Yadav in the press conference.
