Jammu, Apr 20: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Sunday deeply mourned the loss of three lives due to flash floods triggered by incessant rain in the Ramban district.
Sharing condolences with the bereaved families, they promised immediate assistance to them.
LG Sinha and CM Omar also assured swift relief and rescue operations in the district affected by natural calamity.
Expressing grief over the loss of lives, the LG, in his message, said, “Deeply anguished by the tragic loss of precious lives due to the flash floods triggered by incessant rain in Ramban. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families in this hour of grief.”
“The district administration, SDRF, and rescue teams are on the job to ensure swift rescue and relief. All possible assistance is being extended to the affected families,” he said. CM Omar shared his grief through a post on ‘X’.
He wrote, “Extremely anguished by the tragic landslide and flash flood in Ramban, which have caused considerable damage to life and property. My thoughts are with the affected families in this difficult hour.”
He said that ensuring immediate rescue efforts, the focus was on managing the situation on the ground.
“We are in touch with the local administration to ensure immediate rescue efforts wherever needed. Later today, I will be reviewing restoration, relief, and repair plans. For now, the focus remains on managing the situation on the ground. Citizens are advised to follow travel advisories and avoid non-essential movement in vulnerable areas,” the CM said. Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary and MLA Sajjad Shaheen rushed to the district to assess the situation firsthand.
