Jammu, Nov 16: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday said that there was “no terrorist conspiracy or outside interference angle” in the Nowgam Police Station blast case and it was “just an unfortunate accidental mishap.”
Addressing a gathering at Gurdwara Sant Mela Singh Dastkari Ashram, Digiana in Jammu after attending the Nagar Kirtan, organised to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, LG Sinha commended the J&K Police for “dismantling pan-India terror network” and thus preventing planned terror attacks across the country.
He paid glowing tributes to those killed in the Nowgam blast and shared sympathies with the bereaved families.
The LG said that a magisterial inquiry, mandatory under law in such incidents, was already ordered.
“On the night of November 14, 2025, an unfortunate incident took place in Nowgam Police Station of Srinagar. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was lifting samples of explosives recovered from the houses of terrorists and their associates, involved in the recent blast near the Red Fort of Delhi. In this sampling process, at around 11:20 pm, a massive explosion took place, which claimed many lives,” he said, sharing a brief account of the incident.
Expressing grief over the loss of lives, LG Sinha said, “Tragically, we lost some of our brave officials. Those who lost their lives also included personnel from J&K Police and the civil administration. I pay my heartfelt tributes to those killed in the incident and convey my condolences and solidarity with the bereaved families.”
He said that the explosives’ sampling process was ongoing for the past two days.
The LG lauded the role of J&K Police in achieving a major success with their dedication and thorough professionalism by exposing the “white-collar terror network” and saving lives by preventing planned terror attacks across the country.
He was referring to the J&K Police probe into Jaish-e-Muhammad posters in Nowgam in October this year, threatening security forces, which led to the busting of a terror network of professionals spread across the country.
However, LG Sinha said that the Nowgam Police Station blast was purely an accidental mishap.
“In this case, there is no angle of terrorist conspiracy or external interference. Under the legal provisions, in this kind of incident, a magisterial probe is imperative, it is mandatory, and thus, the orders have been issued for such an investigation,” he said.
