Srinagar, Mar 12: The J&K Peace Forum Wednesday strongly condemned what it described as a “deeply troubling nexus” of land mafia, affluent elites, and corrupt elements, alleging that this group was systematically involved in the illegal sale and leasing of temple lands in the region.
In a statement issued here, J&K Peace Forum’s Satish Maldar accused certain politically connected individuals and officials of facilitating these illegal transactions while the authorities remain silent.
He said that despite clear directives from the Jammu and Kashmir High Court affirming that temple deities were the rightful owners of these properties, illegal encroachments and sales continue unabated.
