The 2007 film Life In A Metro was an anomaly in every way. A Bollywood ensemble that didn’t consist of any Khans or Kapoors, did not have large-scale dance numbers, and did not have a traditional happy ending. Out of the several characters in the film, Konkona Sensharma’s and Irrfan Khan’s characters did manage to find their happy ending after the two realised their love for each other. Now, after 18 years, Basu has come back with a sequel, Metro In Dino, and while promoting the release of the song ‘Zamaana Lage’ from the film, the director remembered actor Irrfan and singer KK.
While Irrfan played the role of Monty in the film, KK sang two of the most famous tracks from the film’s album: ‘Alvida’ and ‘O Meri Jaan’. As the new cast took to the stage at the promotional event in Mumbai, Basu admitted missing Irrfan and shared how Konkona teared up while filming as she missed Irrfan.

He said, “We were shooting a scene, and the tone for it was a little similar to a scene from the first film. Suddenly, Konkona started crying, and even right now, I am worried that the same will happen if someone asks a question about him. We miss him; we miss KK very much, and there are many others who are missing now, with whom we collaborated earlier.”
Konkona and Irrfan played each other’s love interests in the first film, and she also happens to be the only returning member of the original cast. Konkona also spoke at the song launch event and shared that she got emotional listening to the song. She also appreciated her co-star Pankaj Tripathi and shared that “it was a lot of fun” working with him. Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ali Fazal, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Fatima Sana Shaikh were also present at the event.
